Summary: Florida Hospital Orlando's Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis is currently seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. The successful candidate will join a team of eight, that together perform 50,000 special coagulation tests annually. This position will perform high complexity clinical testing accurately and promptly within a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. Candidate must be able to maintain composure under pressure, be flexible enough to accommodate rapidly changing priorities, and be capable of performing multiple concomitant assignments in a timely manner. Once fully trained, the qualified candidate, will be required to work independently on weekends and holidays. Summary: Department: Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine Description of the Position: The successful candidate will provide comprehensive technical expertise regarding testing, consultation and education primarily in the area of coagulation. Primary responsibilities include specialized expertise regarding testing, calibration, operation and maintenance of automated and manual testing. You will participate in the development and evaluation of new methodologies and technologies. You will provide training to technologists, students and clinical fellows. You will assume an active role in workload activity measurement, quality control and quality assurance programs to support the effective operation of DPLM. Ensure procedure manuals are maintained and reflect current laboratory practice, and safety guidelines are followed. The candidate will also perform analytical testing on patient samples and interpret results as required. This is a permanent Full-time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week; Salary will commensurate with experience. Qualifications: To be considered for this opportunity, candidates will possess certification as Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with preferably an ART or Bachelor of Science degree. Professional registration with the CMLTO is required. You have developed comprehensive technical skills and knowledge with a minimum 3 years experience in coagulation. You have demonstrated troubleshooting, decision making and problem solving skills. You take initiative and are self-motivated. Demonstrated ability in the development of management skills, supervisory skills and professional growth. The successful candidate will be a team player who is self directed and adaptable to new technologies and processes. Solid computer skills an asset.
